San Gimignano

Today was a day trip day. Nath was motivated enough to figure out how to get there and organize when we had to leave. So this morning we hurried to try to find the bus station and ate breakfast only when we found it. It's actually right next door and we had enough time before our 1st bus got there (we had to transfer to another one to get to San Gimignano).

The trip went pretty well. On the way we met another Canadian who had been backpacking in Italy since March 1st. It happens that he was an AC fan too :)

The city was much smaller than I thought. When we arrived the info center was closed for lunch so we roamed the streets and had lunch of our own. Not too long after that, Lianne fell asleep so we walked the streets of the city randomly and making our way back to the central piazza. There we stopped for some coffee and Lianne was woken up by some tourists yelling at their friends...

A couple of shops had stuffed boars to display wares :S

We walked to a part of the ramparts where we had a nice view of the city and the surrounding Tuscan lands and after that, while Nath went up the Pinacoteca tower, Lianne and I chilled in the Piazza della Cisterna.

I think I expected the see more and higher towers because of ACII :S Nonetheless, San Gimignano is a really cute fortified city that was worth the detour.

Tonight we went to a restaurant with gluten free pasta and eventually asked for our food as take out because Lianne was too tired. We ate our supper home, put Lianne to bed and relaxed while drinking a bottle of Chianti we bought today.
