Sorry about the sudden ending yesterday but I had bought only 30 minutes worth of internet and I wanted my post to be up before my time ended :P
Last night Lianne and Nath woke up at 5am :S They eventually went back to bed and we woke up passed 9am. We hurried to eat our breakfast and left for our Vatican City day. We had booked a tour yesterday to visit Vatican Museum and Chapel Sistine.
To get there we bought tickets for a hop on\off bus. On the bus you can plug in headphones to get some information on the landmarks that we see. I thought it would have been a great way to take pictures but the bus was moving too fast and it’s almost impossible not to get part of the bus or part of a tourist in the shot :(

I still managed to take some good pictures from the bus. This is the front of Parrocchia Santa Maria Maggiore.

We got off very close to St-Peters so we took some pictures and then found a restaurant for lunch. We then went to the meeting place to find our tour guide but we couldn’t find her. When it was a couple of minutes past our meeting time, I called the hotel to make sure there wasn’t any problem with our reservation. They told us the tour guide was late so we waited and kept our eyes opened to try to spot her.

Suddenly we saw some guide grab 2 tourists that seemed to be waiting at the same spot we were supposed to so Nath grabbed him and asked him if we were on his list. We weren’t and it seemed there finally was an error with our reservation. We joined another group and met our French speaking guide and everything was settled.
The Vatican Museum was impressive but not as much as Chapel Sistine. It’s really something to be standing in the middle and looking at such art. No pictures were allowed inside the Chapel so it’s all in my head now (and on the internets!).

The Vatican museum was mostly collections of past Popes. It has always bothered me to see so much riches in churches but seeing what the Vatican has and what the Popes had build it only makes me dislike Christianity even more. If only I could have attacked the Pope to be ex-communicated… It’s possibly the easiest way :S

We didn’t visit St Peter’s but just being in the Piazza in front was impressive. Lianne even took the time to run after some pigeons.

We took the hop-on bus to get back to the hotel while making a quick stop to buy rice milk. We ate at the hotel because they have a gluten free menu. It was a warm buffet. Nothing particularly interesting except that Nath and Lianne could eat 90% of the food.
Tomorrow is our last full day in Rome. We’re going to try to find our Coliseum tour guide again to visit Capitol hill and we’re going to try to see Castel San Angelo and the Pantheon .
