It’s Sunday night and already we’ve done plenty of things.
We left Montreal Saturday and we were one of the first on the plane since we had Lianne with us. The Air France staff was realy nice and our supper was great! We got a bottle of wine AND porto with our meal :D (and a small chocolate). We only managed to make Lianne sleep the last 3 hours of the first flight but the rest of the time she was a perfect baby.
In Paris, we had 1 hour to transfer and we got to the gate just in time for the start of the boarding. Again, having Lianne with us helped cut in the customs and security lines ;) She didn't even wake up from our 1st flight and woke up just before getting on board of our Paris-Rome connection.
The flight was 2 hours and Lianne was more fussy but still managable. When we got to the airport, we kindly refused a taxi driver’s offer for a flat rate to our hotel and took the train to Termini, the train station right next to our hotel downtown.
When we finally got off the train, the hotel was really easy to find thanks to google maps and street view. I had mapped in my head where it was before leaving home :)
We checked into our room, which is just big enough for our needs, and left to go eat lunch. With our stomachs full of Pizza, French fries, chicken and wine (except for Lianne :P) we came back to the hotel for a 2 hour nap. I got us out of our Zombie mode a bit and we started walking towards the Coloseum taking our time, taking in the sights and pictures and buying Pocari Sweat from a Korean store.
Parrocchia Santa Maria Maggiore
I like to take pictures of public phones
Stairway to heaven... well a church named Basilica di San Pietro in Vincoli

The Coloseum was really impressive ! We even got the chance to join the last guided tour and be blown away by this colossus’ beauty. I don't know if it was the combination of being the evening on Sunday but there was very little tourists :)
Il Colosseo
After the visit we went back to the hotel for a quick stop and then left to try to find a gluten free pizzeria that was unfortunately closed that day. So we went to another restaurant we had spotted along the way and ate more good Italian cuisine with wine.
We’re now finally in our room and we’ll hopefully get a good night sleep ! Though I’m not sure with all the naps Lianne took today :S I guess I’ll be able to post the results tomorrow :P
