A Friday the 13th kind of day

Friday was a super cool day because we went to Carcassone, a medieval city I had always wanted to see, but at the same time it was a Friday the 13th day because we made a couple of bad decisions.

Getting there by car was pretty easy and we were able to park right next to the entrance. Our first bad decision was to leave the baby bjorn at the hotel and bring only the stroller. The steets were very bumpy and strollers weren't allowed in the castle.

Anyway, when we arrived we started by eating lunch. I ate a huge magret :S and drank a local drink called Orkina. The taste is hard to describe. I would say half way between a pinot and becherovka. After that we visited the castle. Everything was well documented. Nath was holding Lianne in one arm and listening to the audioguide with the other... I was taking pictures of my dream come true :)

The city is awesome and it felt great to roam its streets. It's a bit too bad the weather was, as Nath said, also medieval (overcast and windy).

On our way back, there was a lot of traffic because of a rugby match. That's where our second bad decision comes in. We waited in line for like 20 minutes only to realize that we were in the wrong line and that we could have gotten back to the hotel sooner. Lianne was also screaming the whole time because she was hungry :/

We eventually parked the car, gave Lianne milk (a least Nath did) and then took the metro to go to Nath's friend's house.

We had a nice supper with Olivier, his wife Christine and their 2 toddlers and then left around 11h30 to take the metro back home.

The metro was stopped because someone had a heart problem at another station. It was supposed to restart 20 minutes later. We decided to wait (our 3rd bad decision). The voice counted down every 5 minutes only to tell us that the metro would not restart...

The were buses to replace the metro but they were full and I was pissed so we decided to walk. That in itself was a great decision. The 4th bad one is that halfway we weren't sure which way to go so we decided to follow the signs for cars. Looking at a map after we probably walked 20 minutes more then needed and got to the hotel at 1am.

Strange day!
